Description
The Jockey Pump is a small-capacity pump used in fire protection systems to maintain constant pressure in the fire pipeline. Its main function is to compensate for minor pressure drops caused by small leaks, valve seepage, or temperature changes, ensuring that the fire system remains fully pressurized at all times.
The jockey pump operates automatically through a pressure switch or control panel. When the system pressure falls below a preset level, the pump starts automatically and stops once the required pressure is restored. This prevents unnecessary starting of the main fire pump, thereby reducing energy consumption, mechanical wear, and maintenance costs.
Typically installed alongside main fire pumps, the Jockey Pump is widely used in high-rise buildings, industrial facilities, commercial complexes, and residential projects. Manufactured from cast iron or stainless steel, it offers durability, corrosion resistance, and reliable long-term performance in fire protection applications.
